Labyrinth Camp

Piper
K9 Piper with handler Joan Hitchner and KCSD member Marcy Koenig

July 14 2005 - One handler with two dogs took on the challenge of sharing the "Lost But Found" message to a group of twenty 3-5 year olds. This day camp held at the University School welcomed the dogs and learned what the do if you get the lost. The kids enjoyed a video presentation about a little girl who gets lost as is reunited with her family after a search dog locates her. Then they tromped out to the playground for a presentation of the search dog’s abilities. No demonstration is complete without the opportunity for all the kids to pet the dogs and see them do a few tricks. Not only are these great opportunities for the kids to learn about what to do if they get lost, it is also perfect socialization time for the dogs.
