July and September 1998

July 11, 1998
98-ES038
Longview, Cowlitz County
We participated in an evidence search for Longview PD, in a suburban area. We had 4 cadaver dogs plus 5 support. After searching several areas, including a residence, we found nothing. In addition to the searching, we also were interviewed by local press to let the local community know about the efforts being expended to locate the subject ( a missing child). To our understanding, our effort was one component that persuaded the suspect to confess to the crime. (130 hrs)

1810 callout for a missing male from a campground in a suburban area. The subject had been staying at the campground due to family troubles. We responded with 2 trailing and 3 airscent teams, as well as 5 support personnel. We had deployed the trailing teams from the subject's campsite and put the airscent teams into nearby drainages. This was a bastard search as the subject was located at a bar in Renton at 2000 hours (46.5 hrs)
