Prosser, Benton Cty
0830 start for planned evidence search for Benton Cty Sheriff. We responded with five cadaver teams, 10 personnel total. We were again requested to assist the Kennewick for the Sophia Juarez search. We were requested to search a property in Prosser based on information received. The results of the search were negative. Several teams went to another site south of Kennewick for the purpose of locating a bury site. Again, the results were negative. (161 hrs)

Rachel Lake, Kittitas Cty
0730 start for missing person search Rachel Lake Trail, Kittitas Cty. We responded with one trailing and three airscent teams, 6 personnel total. The subject was last seen in the early morning hours of July 5th. Our trailing team had a compromised scent article given to him and was unable to provide an effective search. The airscent teams had negative results. The subject was not located during this search. (70 hrs)

Menzel Lake, Snohomish County
1330 callout for missing person at Menzel Lake, Snohomish County. We responded with two cadaver and one water team, 7 personnel total. The subject had been missing for a week and the person was last seen near the lake. The teams did not report any alerts or areas of interest in or around the lake. At the request of a Sno Cty SAR leader, handlers Heather Cutting and Stacie Chandler took a boat out on the lake to inspect an object that had come into view. It turned out to be the subject of the search, who had floated up in the pond. (66 hrs)

Spring Lake
0430 callout for two missing teenagers in the Spring Lake area. We responded with 2 personnel. The subjects had been out all night. As teams were arriving at search base, the subjects walked out of the woods into base. (6.5 hrs)

Sedro Wooley, Skagit Cty
0900 start for planned evidence search as a continuation of the December 4, 2004 search. We responded with five cadaver teams, 10 personnel total. The remains found during the 12/4/04 search did not yield DNA to positively identify them as the missing person whom they were expected to be. Our mission was to further search the area for additional remains. Multiple teams reported trained indications in the general area where the previous remains were located. Nothing was positively located during this search, however. (128.5 hrs) (128.5 hrs)

Deception Lakes
1900 callout to assist with carryout of an injured female hiker at Deception Lakes. We responded with 2 people. The victim was located and packaged by several ESAR teams who had been airlifted into the lakes. The victim injured her foot after stepping off a bridge on day 4 of a 5 day backpacking trip. Two members of her party left for help and one stayed behind. The KCSD folks were part of an ESAR team that came up later and helped with the carry-out to a closer trailhead. (19 hrs)

Annette Lake
1300 callout to assist with carryout of injured hiker on Annette Lake trail. We responded with 5 personnel. The victim had a difficult time walking and was not able to continue on the trail out. (20 hrs)

Granite Lakes
1700 callout for missing 50 male near Granite Lakes. We responded with two airscent teams, 8 personnel total. The subject had been with workers clearing a road when he went missing around noon. The information provided by different sources was not consistent regarding the subject's capability and actions. Two airscent teams were sent up the 4 mile road with 4x4 to assess the situation and begin assignments. One team was assigned the area near the PLS and the other team was sent around the north end of the lakes for confinement. The subject was located via voice checks by the team of Greg Varney (handler), Chris Varney (support) and Trulee (K-9). The subject had wandered around the east side of the upper lake and had run out of energy and stopped on the north side of the lakes in very dense vegetation. The team walked the subject out to 4x4 transport and returned him to his family. (47.5 hrs)
