0430 callout for a missing 12 yo male at Deception Pass State Park. We responded with one trailing and three airscent teams to work with the local search dog group to search different areas. The trailing team of Jacquie Bushway and Granite worked a trail from the PLS to a possible overlook spot. The trail lead down hill from this overlook and ultimately to a 60-foot cliff. Independent work by mantrackers identified potential skid marks as well as locating an object identified as the subject's. It was surmised that the subject wanted a better view of the water below, lost his balance and fell over the cliff. (99 hrs)

1130 callout for a missing 24 yo male hiker on Tiger Mtn. We responded with one trailing and two airscent teams. The subject was overdue from the previous day. He was located in the city by parallel investigation. (12 hrs)

Middle Fork Snoqualmie
0600 callout for a missing male near Taylor River Campground in a wilderness area. We responded with one trailing team. The mantrackers located the subject prior to our arrival. One note: we were called out three hours after the initial callout due to an oversight. (2.5 hrs)

1530 callout for a missing 3 yo in an urban area. We responded with three trailing team and were turned around when the subject was located by family. (2 hrs)
June 16-17, 2000

Cle Elum
2050 callout for a missing 79 yo male Alzheimer's patient from residence in an rural town. We responded with two trailing and two airscent teams. The subject had last been seen at this residence at 1800 hours. The first nights search efforts were on high probability areas with the following days efforts focused on excluding areas. The trailing teams were unable to establish a direction of travel. The subject was located in fair condition by a horseback SAR team in an open field, approximately 1/2 mile from his residence. We worked well with the local search dog teams. (167 hrs)

1115 callout for a missing 31 yo hiker near Mt. Forgotten. We responded with one airscent team. The subject had voice contact with searchers when KCSD personnel arrived at base. (23.5 hrs)

Mt. Teneriffe
0000 callout for a missing female hiker on Mt. Teneriffe. We responded with one airscent and two trailing teams. The subject was located by an ESAR team. (13 hrs)

Federal Way
0700 callout for a missing 82 yo male Alzheimer's patient in an urban area. We responded with four airscent and four trailing teams. We were the only SAR unit to respond to assist local fire who had been looking for this person for 36 hours. The subject was located by the team of Scott Wielbicki, his dog Lambert, and support person Stacie Chandler about two hours after we started our search. They were using voice checks and received a response from the subject at the same time Lambert went into the subject. The subject was about 100 yards from his residence in a dense blackberry patch. (90 hrs)

1100 callout for a missing 72 yo male in an urban area. We responded with two airscent and three trailing teams. We were turned around when the subject was located 2.5 miles from his residence by a responding KCSO deputy. (11.5 hrs)
June 28, 2000
00-1545
Normandy Park
2230 callout for a missing 26 yo male motorbike rider in an urban area. We responded with 12 personnel as the only SAR unit. The subject was known to frequent Marine View Park on his motorcycle. Local police noted skid marks and damaged brush on the trail to the beach. KCSD formed airscent and ground teams to search the areas and found no clues to place the subject at the search location. The subject returned to his residence at 0130 hrs. (39 hrs)
