1500 callout for a missing 73 yo male, potential Alzheimer's subject in a rural area. We responded to this multi-day search with three aiscent, three trailing and two cadaver teams. The subject had been reported missing a week prior to his car being located in a back yard. We worked airscent teams in the wooded areas near this location. The trailing teams identified a trail through the woods to a road 1/4 mile to the west. This trail was confirmed by mantrackers who identified the subject's print, the handler's print, and the dog's print, all adjacent to each other. The trailing teams worked together to determine if the subject had gone down this road by confirming key intersections. This trail was suspended by search command when the trail lead to a more populated area. The subject was located several weeks later in a river the general direction the trailing dogs were going. One innovative item we considered, but did not implement, was to use a stringline for the trailing team through the woods to identify a high probability search zone for subject clues. (373 hrs)

2040 callout for a missing 16 yo male with autism in a rural area. We responded with three trailing and two airscent teams. The subject was visiting relatives when he left the house. While the airscent teams were searching nearby schools, greenbelts and wooded areas, the trailing teams were working from the residence and were unable to identify a trail leaving the neighborhood. The subject was located by an ESAR team in a neighbor's yard. In interviewing the subject, they determined that he was aware of the teams looking for him but did not want to be found. He had no concept how long he had been gone. (35 hrs)
