04-0670
Mercer Island, WA
2000 callout for missing 9 yo female. We responded with two trailing and three airscent teams, 9 personnel total. The initial callout was for a missing 9 yo female. Upon arrival at search base, we learned the subject had been kidnapped, there was a ransom demand and the search needed to be kept low-key. Our role was to do a hasty search in the immediate area of the subject's residence in the event she was injured and close-by. The perpetrator was followed after picking up the ransom. After a chase at speeds exceeding 100 mph, the perpetrator was stopped and the girl was located in fine shape. We were the only KCSARA unit called out at the request of MI PD. (32.5 hrs)

Stacie Chandler and Sage were first in the boat. Sage started showing interest along one bank with overgrowth. The KCSO deputy and Chandler noted a shape under the water and it turned out to be the subject! (18.5 hrs)

The subject of the 4/10/04 search had been moved to this home and was already on the road.
