Kanasket
0800 start for planned cadaver search near Palmer-Kanasket State Park. We responded with six cadaver teams, 6 personnel total. We were requested to assist Major Crimes search this area based on a 3rd party tip that people running through the woods (avoiding cops...) had seen a boot with bones in it. We started teams on the east end, sweeping in parallel tracks to the west. We also started one team at the west end, working a 90-deg grid to the other teams for better coverage. It worked. Joanne Varney and Hylee located the "death" scene as well as bones in 6 other locations. Stacie Chandler and Sage also located bones in two other locations. The entire skull and most of the torso had been located, as well as other long bones. Clair Carver located a finger bone while doing a fine search near the death scene. We are surmising this is the subject of our 14-Dec-03 search in this same area. The total scatter of the bones extended nearly 120 yards from one end to the other, based on what we found. ( 75 hrs)
