2100 callout for missing 11 yo male in Kent. We responded with two trailing and four airscent teams, 11 personnel total. The subject was last seen at school at 1600 hrs when he slipped out the back, from his grandmother. He was said to be in trouble at school. Trailing teams established a direction of travel from the school generally to the west. The airscent teams searched known play areas and green belts. The search was suspended when the obvious locations had been searched and the investigation was focused on his classmates. The subject turned up the following morning after having spent the night hiding at a friends house, without the friend telling his parents. (59 hrs)

Mercer Island
2230 callout for missing 80 yo female on Mercer Island. We responded with 9 personnel. Subject had had a disagreement with her husband around 1830 hours at an adjacent house and had not been seen since. MI police and fire had conducted hasty searches in neighborhood prior to calling KCSO. KCSD was the only unit called out for this search. As the scent articles were being obtained, and the teams were arriving at base, a lady walked up to Stacie Chandler, who was standing by her vehicle, and asked what was all the commotion. Stacie had the presence of mind to ask her name and found out she was our subject! Stacie stayed with the subject until MI PD arrived and the daughter took her away (she didn't want to go home). Apparently, the subject had gone to the house next door and slept until awoken by all the noise. MI and KCSO were impressed by our quick find! (16.5 hrs)

Kent
1000 callout to assist Kent PD with crime scene. We responded with three personnel. Kent PD located clothing with what appeared to be blood on it, buried in Lake Fenwick Park. The cadaver teams indicated there were human remains due to the dog's alerts. A larger area of the park was searched with no further areas of interest. We had a blood exposure incident when a handler grabbed the blood (?) soaked sheet away from the dog and the handler's hands were contaminated by this substance. A follow-on call from KCSO told us that students had been working on a film project and they determined that the substances were potentially chocolate syrup. There was no body found at this scene.(17 hrs)
