K9 Carlo 6/23/2007 – 2/2/2019

With heavy hearts we say goodbye to K9 Carlo after nearly ten years with KCSD. Carlo was certified in trailing and human remains detection and was unit co-founder Andy Rebmann’s 11th working dog and 7th German Shepherd partner.

Carlo had a larger than life personality and was unwavering in his adoration for the human on the other end of the leash. Carlo assisted on dozens of evidence and missing persons searches, and kept Andy on his toes both at home and in the field.

And while we continue to feel the loss of Carlo, the legacy this partnership leaves behind is something all of us in KCSD can sense already. It was a privilege to watch this team work, and through that, teach the rest of us what it means to work a dog in search and rescue.

Thank you, Team 1, for your service to our community, and for the many lessons you have imparted on the next generation of dog handlers.

Meet the crew: Labrador RetrieverĀ edition!

Our team of K9 heroes includes many different colors of Labrador Retrievers. All of our current labs are members of the airscent team and some of them are certified in human remains detection as well. For more information on the dogs, their handlers and the rest of our K9s go to our Team Member page.
